John's authentic eye capturing the ephemeral world that surrounds him gets enhanced and accentuated by the prism of his own fantasies.

EDITION I ”YOUTH DISRUPTED BY THE FUTURE” (Artist Call Out)

What did you do 13MIN AGO?

Prepared a beautiful fillet of salmon for my evening meal.

If you could use one metaphor to describe your work, what would it be?

The images of a spectre, present but unnoticed.

As an artist, what do you feel the creative industry is lacking?

For me the creative industry lacks trust in young creatives. Years of "experience" and connections hold so much more weight than the skills people possess and one can be more than capable of being the perfect job candidate despite being fresh out of school or with no industry experience at all. Also people deserve to be paid for their abilities and the unpaid internship should cease to exist.

How would you define your artistic practice?

Coincidently being present in the moment with a camera in hand, capturing life as I see it. Situations both seemingly mundane and ephemeral, shot and preserved and nothing more.

How would you define originality today?

Originality is staying true to yourself. Creating what you want to create and producing art that fills you with the pleasure and satisfaction that it should do.
